This is one I’m quite excited about. For the sake of transparency, I am a huge fan of the style of shiraz that comes out of Beechworth, all savoury with bright fruit, earthiness, herbal notes and fine tannins. It’s a little glimpse of the Northern Rhône at home in Australia. The shiraz we have here is all that and then some. It comes from a vineyard that provides fruit to some of the region’s most renowned producers. There’s a partial whole bunch fermentation, providing some extra herbaceousness, and the wine spent 14 months on full lees in a mix of old and new oak. The wine was then bottled unfined and unfiltered, maintaining maximum flavour and texture whilst also keeping the wine vegan-friendly.
