We’re on a bit of a hot streak with wines from the cold island down south. This is riesling from one of the Coal River Valley’s top producers, a wine that earned high marks from Ned Goodwin to the tune of 95 points in James Halliday’s Wine Companion. It’s so fresh, so confident and so easy. The citrus is bright with its accompanying acidity, the nose is all orange blossom and green apple, and there are hints of pithiness and quince on the palate. There’s even texture and a dash of spiciness to boot. It’s like a Ferrari easy chair, super sporty but so very comfortable.
