from Hawke's Bay
The Fo’s long lasting love affair with kiwi chardonnay continues thanks to our wonderful friends at Matahiwi. New Zealand has garnered the reputation of delivering chardy in the old school, richer style and this little number from Hawkes Bay is a prime example. With a medium body providing palate weight, fleshy green fruits awaken the senses and a cedary spice caps it all off. Yet pour yourself another glass and you’ll delve deeper into appreciating its extended time on lees which garners a mealy edge, while partial malolactic fermentation provides softness and buttery notes without losing cleanliness and elegance. Side note - pair this with a traditional carbonara with pancetta instead of bacon and you’ll be transported to seventh heaven.
