This pinot pack lives up to its name - packed full of some serious good gear that’s just begging to be enjoyed. We’ve provided the most important ingredient - the wine - so all you need to do is just add friends, your favourite meal - and enjoy!
Each case contains TWO bottles of each of the following:
CARLEI GREEN VINEYARDS CUVÉE STEPHEN THOMSON PINOT NOIR 2019
Carlei sources three different pinot clones from Green Vineyards in the Yarra, whole berry fermenting them separately. The batches are then aged in a mix of old and new French oak for a year before a final blending. The final product is opulent on the nose with ripe strawberries and cherries paired with truffle and forest floor. The velvety palate carries its acid well and hints at even greater developments after a few years of age, when more earthy characteristics will peek through.
RIVERSDALE ESTATE SCORPIO PINOT NOIR 2020
2020 was a challenging vintage in Tasmania; not in terms of quality but in terms of quantity. The wines look fantastic across all varieties. Unfortunately there just isn’t a huge volume of them. And with Tassie pinot being in such high demand, we were quite chuffed to get our hands on this drop made by Riversdale Estate out of the Coal River Valley. It’s quite elegant with a bit of earthiness behind the cherry and strawberry fruit profile. Up front you can taste some bramble drawn from partial whole bunch pressing, but that soon gives way to the silky palate and gently spiced finish.
PADDY BORTHWICK FALLOON BLOCK PINOT NOIR 2020
We have drunk this wine over a few vintages and we’ve been kind of swept up by its consistent elegance, spiced red cherry attitude and subtle complexity. Everything in this wine has its place and the parts work together in beautiful harmony - gentle oak flavour wrapped up generously in red fruits, delicate poise and fine, chalky tannin. There’s enough acid to make this pinot sing with food and keep you coming back to your glass.
MAISON DU GRAND PRÉ COTEAUX BOURGUIGNON 2020
This beauty is definitely punching above its weight, with bright berry fruit and cherry slice aromas lying on a bed of carob. It’s bright and bouncy. Playful and fresh. Nervy and delicious. And it’s so versatile with dinner. Enjoy with a provincial inspired roast chicken with lemon, rosemary, garlic and black pepper. Step it up with a roll of roast pork.
MATAHIWI ESTATE RESERVE PINOT NOIR 2019
Made by the team at Matahiwi, who are known to over-deliver, this pinot does, and then some! Light and bright, it ticks the fruit, complexity and pinosity boxes with a flourish. Sam Kim calls it: “attractively fruited and beautifully complex”. We call it: “get in my glass and get in NOW!”.
SUNSHINE CREEK BLOCK X PINOT NOIR 2018
This Yarra pinot sits in the middle of the spectrum - it’s silky smooth, a little fuller in fruit (think black cherries and strawberries), but still with the elegance that pinot is famous for. It also has a bit of funk and earthiness. It's easy drinking and ultimately enjoyable - something that appeals to everyone.
